Hey, this is Cody.

I founded the Explorer Partnership back in 2016 with the goal of forming an adventurous group of like-minded individuals. I wanted to travel the world looking for lucrative investment and business opportunities, with the backing of a powerful group of great people.

We ended up investing millions of dollars across a variety of industries and real estate projects.

Even more exciting, we traveled to many different parts of the world. We learned about new cultures, forged powerful new relationships, and got involved in some very interesting deals...

We traveled to Shenzhen, Puerto Rico, Kyiv, Colombia, London, and all over the US.

but Of all the investments I’ve made…

I realized one thing is still the most valuable in the world…

I’m talking about relationships. 

The saying ‘who you know is more important than what you know’ becomes more true as you climb the ladder of success. 

Life really is about connections. Opportunities and access really are available to those who have the right relationships. 

Beyond opportunities, life simply isn’t fulfilling without the people around you to enjoy your success with, either. 

Of course, it’d be nice if there was a level playing field for everyone in the world… but that’s just not how life works. You’ve got to put yourself in situations where you get exposed to new people… people who you can relate to, build relationships with, and pursue life-changing ventures with. 

However, over the past couple of years, there was one big problem:

LOCKDOWNS MADE PEOPLE NUTS…

The world as we knew it completely changed in 2020. The relationships that we had were disrupted. The opportunity to create new, in-person connections was paused.

This not only impacted people’s professional lives, it also deeply impacted their personal lives…

Life expectancy rates plunged in the US, as the highest ever rates of alcohol, drugs, and suicide took place during the pandemic. 

In the best case, people’s lives were seriously disrupted. In the worst, it was over. 

Now it’s time to rebuild. It’s time to reconnect and realize what we took for granted before all of this chaos. 

The value of communities and socializing with like-minded individuals was severely undervalued. Now, in hindsight, we all realize how important it is to have connections in your life… for your success, for your enjoyment, and for your sanity. 

Before the world changed… 

In 2019, we traveled to Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen. The experience for everyone on the trip, including me, was life-changing.

Of course, at the time, none of us knew that would be our last time together.

In hindsight, I realize that the most valuable part of the entire trip was the bonds that were built amongst a group of people.

It wasn’t the companies we toured. 

It wasn’t the experts who shared their insights with us. 

And it wasn’t the investments we made. 

Of course, those were all interesting… But they weren’t the most important. 

The friendships that were created over the course of that week are still strong today. 

For example, after our trip to China a few E/P members have acquired businesses. Others purchased real estate together. Recently, some have even partnered to raise money for their startup. 

That has made me realize what the E/P should be going forward: community-focused.

So, what’s next?

• Hearing from several speakers on topics such as real estate, crypto, business acquisitions, and the ultimate insurance policy

• Discussing details and plans for a Rural Cult (Read the article, if you’re not up to speed. I’ve already gotten commitments from at least 20 people to invest and I’ve already started the search for the right property.)

• Discussing the future membership model of the E/P

SPEAKERS

Keith Blackborg, CPA, reached Work Optional within 10 years due to success as an investor and tax strategist. Keith and his wife Jessica have experience with domestic and international investments, including residential and commercial real estate, lending, startups, and paper assets. Keith served as the director of acquisitions for a hedge fund that transacted the largest private sale of homes in US history.

He used to own a CPA firm focused on high-net-worth real estate investors, including high-volume single-family investors and apartment syndicators. As a tax strategist, he showed clients how to legally save ~5-10% of their income in taxes each year.

Keith and Jessica became millionaires before they were age thirty. Between 2016 & 2017, Keith and Jessica sold the CPA firm and most of their active investments. They transitioned to a board-level role of their wealth business overseeing high ROI passive investments. Keith and Jessica were able to retire comfortably through Work Optional in less than a decade of working.

In the three years that followed, Keith and Jessica traveled around the world while soul searching and seeking what was next. However, traveling and Netflix gets old after a while. Out of the desire to help more, Financial Journey is the manifestation of passion to help others enjoy freedom.

Adem Tumerkan, the founder of Speculators Anonymous, began as a research analyst at Stansberry Research, where he honed his analytical prowess and gained valuable insights into the intricacies of financial markets.

Subsequently, Adem assumed a pivotal role as a macro-analyst and Chief Editor at Palisade Global Investments, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader in the realm of finance. His astute macroeconomic insights and editorial acumen made him an indispensable asset to the firm.

Adem has also been a prominent speaker at international investment conferences and investment panels, where his perspectives have added unparalleled value to discussions. Furthermore, Adem has contributed to numerous top-tier publications, offering his unique insights and analysis to a global readership. Adem actively advises public and private enterprises within the mining sector.

Andre started programming computers at the age of 8, and later on, became a computer programmer just as the first dot com boom began. Additionally, having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs, Andre always had an affinity for building businesses.

Over the years, Andre worked for dozens of companies including startups and established businesses such as IBM, Yahoo, and LinkedIn through various roles and growth stages. He learned everything from technology concepts, to startup disciplines, to business process creation, to marketing, and optimizing operations at scale.

In the midst of his tech journey he also bought, built, and sold a restaurant, as well as began renovating and flipping real estate properties before eventually returning to the tech industry.

After a decade working and learning in Silicon Valley along with setting up offshore engineering teams in Vietnam, Andre bootstrapped a business in the digital security space, which has successfully grown to a size that is allowing me the luxury of shifting into a new direction in my life to build a variant of lifestyle PE firm.

And all while raising my twin daughters, attempting to stay in shape, pursue continued learning, as well as give back to others around me on their own journey.
